ImeIme Umana Board Member

ImeIme is a former CRC Legal Fellow who works as an Assistant Defender for the Michigan State Appellate Defender Office (SADO).  She joined SADO after working as a staff attorney in the Trial Division at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia. Prior to becoming a public defender, ImeIme clerked for Justice Sonia Sotomayor on the Supreme Court of the United States and for Judge Robert L. Wilkins on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. During law school, she served as President of the Harvard Law Review, becoming the first black woman to hold the position in the journal’s 131-year history.
