Ashanée Gardner (She/Her)

Digital Communications Associate
asha@civilrightscorps.org

Asha is the Digital Communications Associate at Civil Rights Corps. Her work includes running our social media pages, keeping the website updated, creating visuals to uplift the organization’s policy and litigation work, and leading the CRC blog. She is especially proud of her Summer 2020 ‘Supporting Black Lives’ campaign. This campaign was in response to the nationwide uprising against police brutality in this country.

Prior to joining CRC, she worked as the Digital Press Assistant for the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. While working in the Senate, she helped build the committee’s social media platforms from the ground up under the leadership of a Michigan Senator. Her primary focus while in that role was ensuring marginalized communities were centered in her content creation to help bridge the gap between systems and people of color.

Ashanée graduated from Delaware State University in 2018 with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and a minor in Political Science. While at DSU, she was a member of College Dems, Class Recording Secretary for the 2015-2016 academic school year, President of the National Panhellenic Conference for the 2017-2018 academic school year, an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and a University Cheerleader.

“Black women are the voice and frontline warriors in this fight against systemic injustice yet we are the most forgotten. I do this work for my sisters and future generations to come.”
